Front Yard Garden

This naturalistic matrix design uses sturdy, drought tolerant sedums instead of grasses as the background texture. Woven through the sedums are great blue lobelia, echinacea, and other colourful highlights such as Digitalis ‘Apricot Beauty,’ ‘Cloth of Gold’ yarrow, and dramatic Japanese anemones. To increase the dramatic effect, large veils of Molinia ‘Sky Racer’ grass and huge masses of Persicaria polymorpha rise out of the garden. To hold back weeds, an understory matrix of wild strawberries and fragrant catmint cover the ground.
